Peace Collection Digitization Project
Through a grant from the Nathalie and Gladys Dalkowitz Charitable Trust, Special Collections was able to hire a graduate student for the spring 2011 semester to digitize historic documents from the John Peace Collection.
Approximately 260 Spanish language documents spanning the years 1811-1864 were digitized during the five month (150 hour) project, which is more than half of the total collection. The 260 documents generated 2,204 scans and include English transcriptions when available. The materials were run through OCR (optical character recognition) software, so near full-text searching is available for typescript documents.
The finding aid for the collection includes direct links to the digitized material by title. You can also browse the collection in the UTSA Digital Collections repository.
