UTSA Special Collections Receives Two Additions to HemisFair68’ Collection

UTSA Special Collections recently received two donations to be added to the San Antonio Fair, Inc. Records, UTSA Special Collections’ materials documenting the HemisFair ’68 World’s Fair held in San Antonio in 1968. The two new additions include a collection of 8 HemisFair’68 posters donated by William Sinkin, a prominent San Antonio businessman, civic activist, and the first President of San Antonio Fair Inc., and a donation of four boxes of HemisFair 68’planning records and photographs by Carlos Freymann, former Director of the Visitor and Exhibitor Relations Department for San Antonio Fair, Inc.

El Encanto de Un Pueblo/The Magic of a People,” 1968.”

The Sinkin donation includes a rare print of the HemisFair68’ poster, “El encanto del pueblo/The Magic of a People,” which features an angel slaying a demon from the Girard Foundation’s exhibition on folk art and toys, while the Freymann donation includes numerous photographs of Freymann and other HemisFair68’ officials meeting with visiting dignitaries from Central and South American countries.
